NSWSAS First Annual Sydney Scale Rally.

Finally, after a few very difficult years, the New South Wales Scale Aircraft Society has resumed their events calendar.  After a very hot week thankfully the morning of our first annual Sydney Scale Rally dawned cloudy & overcast with very pleasant temperatures.  There was even some very light sprinkles of rain early in the morning & later in the afternoon but by then a good day’s flying had been enjoyed by all that attended.

One surprise, too late to advertise, was a great deal of second hand & new aircraft & accessories to be had at bargain prices, sadly the clearance from two deceased estates from CKSMAC members.  As a result of the interest generated a swap meet will be considered to be run in addition to next year’s event.

Tony Draper's Hangar 9 P-51, stripped & re-covered, DA-60 powered.

Flying conditions were next to perfect with a steady breeze straight down the cross strip which abated during the day making both runways suitable for take offs & landings.

Many thanks to the Charles Kingsford Smith Model Aero Club for their offer to host this event at their superb field and provide the BBQ lunch, it was much appreciated. The field is once again in immaculate condition after several floodings.  At the pilot’s briefing it was pointed out that those who tend to crash into trees may find some near the horizon!

Keep an eye on the NSWSAS website for the upcoming NSW Scale Championships dates & venue:  https://nswsas.wixsite.com/nswsas/home
